Psychiatric & Substance Abuse Programs for Adults

For adults suffering a psychiatric or substance abuse crisis, meeting life’s challenges can be overwhelming. Parkwood Behavioral Health System provides crisis management and treatment services for individuals experiencing an acute state of crisis. Our adult programs offer a confidential and caring environment with treatment options administered by a multidisciplinary team of behavioral health professionals.

Acute Inpatient Services

The adult inpatient unit provides intensive therapeutic care for a wide range of psychiatric disorders that may co-occur with substance abuse. Treatment is confidential and overseen by a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, certified addiction counselors and recreational therapists. We work closely with patients, families and outpatient providers to promote optimal behavioral wellness.

Components of Acute Inpatient Care

  • Nutrition
  • Art and pet therapy
  • Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing
  • Pharmacy group: medication education

  • Crisis stabilization

Partial Hospitalization Program

Adult PHP provides therapeutic care that is less restrictive than inpatient care but more intensive than outpatient care. It can serve as an effective step-down for individuals leaving an inpatient program. Overseen by our multidisciplinary staff, the program offers individualized care as a day treatment option.

Adult Partial Hospitalization is offered 7 days a week:
Monday through Friday: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Saturday: 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Sunday: 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Intensive Outpatient Program

Adult IOP provides group therapy for patients who require more than weekly therapy and those transitioning from a more intensive program. It provides treatment for patients who may struggle with a wide range of psychiatric disorders with or without co-occurring substance abuse.

Adult IOP is offered 5 days a week with day and evening options:
Monday through Friday: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (day)
Monday through Friday: 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (evening)
